“Who is she? You have to tell me more bro.” Josh chuckled listening to his younger brother Zac beg for more detail on the girl that had stolen his heart within only a week of living in Tennessee.
“She the lead singer of this band, fiery red, the most beautiful emerald green eyes I’ve ever seen. I don’t really don’t how to explain her, she’s just….” Josh pauses. “Perfect.” He finishes, saying it more to himself than Zac.
“Oh my god, has Josh Farro the player of all players fallen in love with one girl?” Zac gasped from the other line. Josh blushed, letting out another chuckle thanking god that he was having this conversation over the phone and not face to face with his brother, knowing that Zac would never let him live this down.
“Stop being such a girl, and besides we aren’t even dating, I just like her.”
“You mean you can’t get her?” Zac laughed. Josh rolled his eyes (“Zac are you on the phone, you know you’re grounded.”) Zac jumps to his feet, quickly walking over to his door to lock it as he hears his mother voice from the other side of his bedroom door. “Dude I have to go, moms freaking out again.” Zac sighs.
“The good child got grounded, unbelievable.” Josh says sarcastically.
“It’s no big deal, Ajax and I skipped school, to check out this new rad band perform, and mom found out of course.” (“Zachary.”) His mother warrned. “Mom I’m not on the phone.” Zac shouted at his mother. “Dude I’ll talk to you later before mom catches me on the phone; I don’t want to be shipped off to Tennessee like you.” Zac laughs.
“Very funny.” Josh says, and with that he ended the call placing the phone down; and saying goodnight to his grandparent’s. Josh enters his room, stripping nearly all of his clothes off door, then kicking them aside closing the door behind him. Shutting off the lights, and climbing into bed, Josh found it hard to sleep. She was on his mind, the kiss they first shared, the kiss they shared earlier. Zac was right, he was in love with Hayley, but how could that be, he barely knew her. “Stranger things happen every day, so me falling in love with Hayley so quickly, isn’t impossible at all.”
Josh is almost asleep, when he hears the strumming of a guitar, followed by that sweet voice he had encountered so many times since moving to Franklin. Pushing the cover’s aside, Josh climbs from bed walks over to his window, making sure to stay out of sight. Slowly he pushes the window up so he could listen to Hayley’s beautiful voice clearly.
“I am finding out, that maybe I was wrong.
That’s I’ve fallen down, and I can’t do this alone.
Stay with me, this is what I need, please”
Those had been the most beautiful lyrics Josh had ever heard in entire life. He couldn’t tell if they were coming from love or pain. He wanted nothing more than to make Hayley feel loved at this point. Once the guitar and singing stopped, Josh climbed back into bed falling soundly asleep instantly…
**********************
Hayley sat up in bed with a big brightly smile plastered on her face. She didn’t curse herself for not closing the blinds after her roof performance; that would have prevented the sun from shining brightly through her windows. Instead she climbed out of bed, rubbing the sleep from her eyes, and skipped off to the bathroom to have a shower.
“I’ve got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love and I know that it’s all mine. Oh oh oh oh.
Do what you want b….” Hayley sang but was startled at the sound of someone knocking on the bathroom door.
“Hayley honey are you alright?” Mrs. Williams asks.
“Yes grandma I’m fine.” Hayley giggled.
“Ok dear, breakfast is on the table.” Hayley’s grandmother shakes her head; wondering what has gotten into her granddaughter. It was obvious that she was happy, but she hadn’t seen Hayley this happy in ages.
Hayley pulled on her black hoddie Hayley grabbed her keys and her backpack, happily making her way down stairs. “Good morning to you and good morning to you.” Hayley places a kiss on each of her grandparent’s cheek, before taking a seat at the dining table.
“You seem happy.” Her grandfather says.
“I guess.” Hayley smiled taking a sip of her orange juice.
“Does it have anything to do with the Farro’s grandson?” Hayley nearly choked on her orange juice, blushing deeply.
“No were just friends grandma.” Hayley’s not able to hide her blush as her grandmother glances at her once more.
“Well I think he’s a very nice young man, I’m glad to know you have become friends after the incident.” Hayley only nods, finishing the last of breakfast.
“Gotta go grandma don’t want to be late for school.” Hayley says.
“Ok sweetheart have a nice day.” Hayley places another kiss on each of her grandparent’s cheeks before exiting her house. She was shocked to see Josh leaning against the side of her car already.
“Wow you’re up bright and early.” Hayley smiled.
“And you aren’t?” Josh chuckled.
“Shut up and get in the car.” Hayley giggled.
“Someone’s happy today.” Josh says taking in Hayley’s attitude.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” Hayley blushes. Josh chuckled shaking his head in response he leans across the center counsel placing a kiss on Hayley’s cheek.
“Josh I’m driving.” Hayley takes one hand off the wheel and shoos Josh away. Josh catches her hand, and places a kiss on her palm, Hayley blushes, but doesn’t take her eyes off the rods.
“Hayley I’ve only been her for almost a week, but I know this isn’t the way to school.” Josh says after five minutes of driving.
“Do you want to skip school today?” Hayley suddenly ask.
“Do I have a choice?”
“No not really, because I’m not turning around now.”
“Ok so where are we going?”
“You’ll find out when we get there.” Hayley smirked.
“Wait we’re leaving Franklin?” Josh asked shocked seeing the welcome to Nashville sign.
“Yeah, is that a problem?” Hayley asked.
“No.” Josh simply says.
“Don’t worry Joshie Woshie; I’ll make sure your get back home safe and sound.” Hayley reached out patting Josh’s shoulder.
“Joshie Woshie?” Josh sorted.”
“Yeah, I made it up, it’s adorable, and you love it.” Hayley smirks.
“I do.”
“Yes you do.” For an hour Josh sat back with a smile plastered on his face, as he continues to watch Hayley’s from the passenger seat. Watching the way she grip the will every now and then, the way her red hair blew, because she had her window down, and the way she sang along to the music on the radio as if no one else was there. Why did she have to be so beautiful?” Josh thought to himself.
********************
Hayley pulled into the parkinglot of placed that meant so much to her when she was younger. Shutting the car off she glances at Josh, who had fallen asleep halfway through there little trip. He looked so cute and peaceful and for a minute she didn’t want to wake him, but she had so much she wanted to show Josh today. Hayley smirked as an idea hopped into her head.
She unhooks her seatbelt then climb across the center counsel, carefully straddling Josh’s lap; he stirs a bit but doesn’t wake. Hayley smiles at the cute innocent look on his face, and began to run her fingers through his short brown hair. “Wake up sleepy head.” She whispers in his ear, and places a kiss on his cheek. Hayley continue to repeat her actions whispering in Josh’s ear, and planting kisses along his cheek, until reaching his lips.
Admeditly Josh’s strong arms wrap around Hayley waist pulling her closer. Hayley gasp. “You’re such a faker.” Hayley squeals, trying to move away from Josh, but he pulls her back close for more.
“Were in a parking lot Josh.” Hayley pushes to remove Josh’s hands, but he holds a pretty good grip. “Josh.” Hayley whines
“Hey you started it.” Kisses her lips, but realizes that Hayley was now serious. “I’m sorry, guess I got carried away.” Josh apologizes, not wanting to ruin their day, knowing there had to be a reason why Hayley wanted to ditch with him and only him.
Hayley climbs back over to her seat, before getting out of the car; sighing once she was out. Hayley wasn’t angry with Josh for kissing her, because he was right. She was the one who had started it. It was the look in his eyes that scared her the most. Josh had feeling for her, if not loved her, and she wasn’t sure if she was ready to admit such a thing to him so early.
“So where are we?” Josh asked climbing out of the car, staring at the huge Ferris wheel.
“A carnival.” Hayley smiles, walking around the car to grab Josh’s crutches from the backseat.
“Do you think this is a good idea, I mean this seems like a whole lot of walking and I’m on crutches and all.” Josh says looking at the distance he’s have to go.
“Don’t worry, we’ve only come for two things, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it just as much as I do.” So far Hayley had drug Josh on a ride call zero gravity, once the ride was spinning in the air at full speed Hayley had unhooked herself, knowing from experience that she would not fall. Josh stared with wide eyes, as Hayley manage to move around the small divider that separated them. Hayley unhooks Josh and lays herself against him. Josh holds her tightly against his chest thinking she would fall at any given minute.
“What was that?” Josh asked once he and Hayley were safely on the ground.”
“It’s called Zero gravity, my friends use to do this all the time; they would see who could successfully move into their dates cell, guess I never had the chance to try it.” Hayley half smiles at Josh. Josh only smiles back not really knowing what to say. Hayley had said her friends did that with their dates. So what did that make them?
Next Hayley drug Josh over to the Ferris wheel. “So where all the kids our age, I mean all I’ve seen so far is people are grandparent’s age, and adults and there toddlers.” Josh glances around still not seeing anyone their age.
“Probably in school.” Hayley reminded that they had chosen to skip school today. “The younger people normally come at night. And well seeing how I’m grounded” I won’t get to come at night, and with your broken foot, it’s probably safer for you during the day.” Hayley explains.
“It’s are turn.” Hayley squealed at the line had finally moved up.
“Can you make sure are cart stops at the top.” Josh asked the guy working the ride, and slipped him a twenty in the process.” The man nods.
“So is there a story behind wanting to ride the Ferris wheel?” Josh asked with concern.
“What do you mean?”
“You know like the Zero gravity ride, and your friends.
“Oh.” Hayley says finally catching on. ”Well I’ve actually never rode one, I didn’t want to risk getting stuck with a stranger. So I would just always wait at the bottom for the ride to be over with. I guess you could say I’m kind of the fifth wheel, when it comes to hanging out with friends.
“Well I’m here now.” Josh say, placing his arm around Hayley’s shoulders as the Ferris wheel began to move. Hayley doesn’t say a thing; she just simply lays her head on Josh chest, as they continue to move higher.
“Oh my god did we just stop.” Hayley gasped.
“Yeah, why what’s wrong.” Josh asked concerned.
“I’m afraid of heights, but this is beautiful.” Josh sighs in relief that he hadn’t completely screwed up.”
“Do you mind?” Josh says pulling out his phone, and switching on the video recorder.”
“What are you doing?” Hayley asked.
“Just making a video, something to send back home to my brother.”
“Why?”
“Because he thinks that Tennessee is boring, and he thinks you’re just some girl I’ve made up, because he don’t think girls can be in a band.” Josh glances down at Hayley who was still resting her head on his chest.
“You’ve told you brother about me?” Hayley lifts her head, to look Josh in the face.
“Well yeah, you’re pretty amazing.” Hayley blushes laying her head back on Josh’s chest. Josh starts to record, using the front facing camera so that he and Hayley could themselves.
“Hey bro, what’s up, just skipped school today, with the most amazing little red ever.” Josh turns the camera more towards Hayley.
“Hi Josh’s brother.” Hayley giggles.
“Zac.” Josh mutters.
“Hi Zac, Josh’s brother.” Hayley corrects herself, still laughing.
Josh turns the camera back toward him. “Told you she was pretty.” Josh says quickly turning the camera back at Hayley. Hayley giggles again placing her hand in front of the camera.
“I’m going to kill you.” Hayley mutters.
“I guess I can say that Franklin isn’t bad after all, I bet you wised you were here. Josh films the how high he and Hayley are up on the Ferris wheel. “Any final words Josh ask tilting the camera towards Hayley. Hayley leans up pecking Josh on the cheek. This time Josh is the one who blushes.
After Josh shuts his phone off, and He and Hayley enjoys the ride until it’s over. “So what’s next?” Josh asked.
“Actually it’s almost two o’clock, school is dismissed at two-fifty, and it’s going to take at least an hour to get back to Franklin so we should really start heading back home.” Hayley explains.
Josh pouts. “I was really enjoying today, I don’t want it to be over.”
“Stop being such a baby, once your foot heals; we can maybe do this again, unless you decide to piss me off again.” Hayley smirks.
“Can we do one more thing, before we leave?” Josh asked spotting the photo booth near the exit.
“Sure.” Hayley smiles. Josh leans his crutches against the outside of the booth and climbs in with Hayley following after him. Before Hayley could squeeze in the space next to Josh and the wall on her opposite side Josh pulls her into his lap.
“It’ll give us more room.” Josh adds. After a few silly pictures, things began to heat up between the two, starting with a simple kiss leading to a passionate French kiss. The two never wondering if someone was standing outside the booth. The two only breaks apart for the lack of oxygen. Once catching her breath Hayley notice a pair of feet showing underneath the curtain that separated her and Josh from the outside word. “I think we should get out now.” Hayley pointed at the feet to show Josh that someone was outside the booth.
“You know what would be bad?” Josh says.
“What?”
If that was your grandmother…………
*************************************************
