“Hayles chill I was just joking, how could your grandmother possibly know where we are?” Josh says noticing the frighten look on Hayley’s face. Hayley admeditly calms down realizing that Josh was right, there was no way her grandmother would know where they were, not yet anyways. “We should get out, I don’t think this person is going anywhere anything soon.” Josh says after the person outside the booth cleared their throat, and began to impacitently tapped their foot against the ground. Hayley nods, slowly peeling back the curtain.
Hayley and Josh stared in the face of several disapproving elderly couples. “Uhmmmm…. I think those are our.” Hayley says slowly taking the pictures from the woman’s hand. The woman only shakes her head disapprovingly and gladly hands the pictures over.
“Did you see their faces?” The two burst in a fit of laughter once there a good distance away from the photo booth.
“Let me see them.” Josh say referring to the pictures once they had reached the car. “That’s definitely my favorite.” Josh pointed at the last photo where the kiss they just shared has become the most heated.
“Yeah I like that one too.” Hayley agrees. Josh had stared at the photo the entire ride back to Franklin wondering what he and Hayley were now. He wanted to ask her but he didn’t want to be hurt if she was to say they were still only friends. After today Josh would rather want believe that Hayley were more than just friends, then to know that she would never be his, so he kelp quiet and just enjoyed the ride.
******************************************
“Hey what time is it?” Hayley suddenly asks, once they were back in town
“Two-forty, five” Josh says glancing at his watch.”
“Five minutes left of school, what do you say?” Hayley smirks.
“But we’ve already missed the entire day.” Josh raised his eyebrow
“Better late than never I guess, and besides we should at least see what we’ve missed.” Hayley’s smirk only grew as she pulled into the parking lot of the school and seeing their friends who always left school early already in the parking lot.
“Where the hell have you two been all day?” Jeremy asked.
“She kidnaped me.” Josh spoke first.
“I did not!” Hayley protested playfully slapping Josh across the chest. Jeremy and the others are quiet surprised by Hayley and Josh’s new found relationship. Hayley had never let anyone in so quickly so it was obvious that she somewhat trusted him. Of course Jeremy and the other didn’t know if Hayley and Josh were actually dating or not, but Jeremy felt that it was his place being Hayley’s closes thing to an older brother to have a word with Josh.
Jeremy had been like a big brother to Hayley since they first met; he found himself somewhat protective of her and never wanted to see her get hurt. “Hey Josh can we talk for a minute?” Jeremy say respectfully pulling Josh aside, to find out what his real intentions were towards Hayley.
“You break-in up with me Jer?” Josh chuckles.
Jeremy lets out a light chuckle as he catches on to Josh was saying. “Yeah it’s so not working out anymore.” Hayley and the other lean against her’s and Jeremy’s car, as Jeremy and Josh walked off to the side, for a little privacy.
“What’s up dude?” Josh asked slightly concerned.
“You and Hayley.” Jeremy decided to get straight to the point.
“What about us?” Josh asked not following.
“What are your intentions with her?” Jeremy says just as serious as he first spoke.
“Dude you sound like her father; I thought these were the questions her parents were supposed to ask?” Josh chuckled.
“Well her parents aren’t exactly around anymore, but I’ll leave her explain that on her own terms. I guess what I’m trying to say is that, other than her grandparent’s, Taylor Sabrina, Kathryn and I are all Hayley’s has, and we don’t like to see her get hurt or taken advantage of.”
“I would never intentionally hurt Hayley, thought I do admit the first day I met you guys, and you all nearly scared the shit out of me; I did want to get revenge against her for dragging me out there, but now I know her and I care for her.
“What about Tessa?” Jeremy questioned.
Josh sighs. “There is absolutely nothing going on with Tessa and I. I don’t care about her, I care about Hayley and after the day we’ve spent together I’m almost ready to tell her I love.” Josh glances back at Hayley who was staring directly at him. He could have sworn he felt his heart skip a beat, when she smiled at him.
“Don’t!” Jeremy simply says.
Josh’s head snapped back in Jeremy’s direction. “What do you mean don’t, I care about her and I think she should know.”
“Hayley’s different, and I’m sure you’ve notice...” Jeremy try’s to explains, but is cut off.
“Yeah I know she’s different’, but what so wrong about me expressing how I feel about her.” Josh protests somewhat offended. Was Jeremy telling him that he wasn’t good enough for Hayley?
“You tell Hayley you love her, and you’ll probably lose her. She has a hard time believing in love, so just give it time, before you start throwing around the big “L” word.” Jeremy says, before walking back over to group.
While Josh and Jeremy had spoken, Hayley learned from Kat that Mrs. Stewards their French teacher had begun to schedule the yearly trip Paris, which is the only real reason why everyone fought to get a seat in French, and put up with her awful French accent for almost a year.
Hayley was extremely excited; she had been waiting for this since freshman year seeing how only seniors were allowed to go, because they were considered responsible and almost adults. Now all Hayley had to do was convince her grandparent’s to let her go…
**********************************
****One month later****
Over the months that went, Hayley had notice a change in Josh. First he was a jerk, then he became quite lovable, and now it was like he was hiding something from her. She was slightly hurt that he would keep secrets from her, but it wasn’t like she tells him everything about herself either, so she just shrugged the feeling off hoping that everything would be ok, between them.
Though the best thing that’s happened was that Josh foot had gotten better, and he had gotten his foot cast removed a week ago, and Hayley was no longer grounded. But what was even better was that today was Josh’s eighteenth birthday. Though he was slightly pissed his grandparent’s for making him go to school on his birthday, he was actually ok with it, when he saw say a certain petite orange hairs girl ringing his doorbell from his window.
“I’ve got it.” Josh shouted swinging his backpack over his shoulder, and quickly making his way down stairs not knowing that his grandfather had already let Hayley in. So he nearly knocked her over as he rounded the corner.
“Wow slow down cowboy, Are you that happy to see me, or are you just happy it’s your birthday?” Hayley giggled as Josh pulled her into a hug.
“Both I guess, but where’s my gift?” Josh asked playfully turning Hayley around, and began to search her as if he was he was airport security and she was passenger going through the security check.
“Well that wasn’t rude all.” Hayley says sarcastically, pushing Josh away. “But your gift s in the car.” Josh go’s to kiss Hayley but she quickly steps aside as Josh grandmother enters the room. Josh is confused until he hears his grandmother voice.
“Good morning Hayley.” Mr. Farro says
“Good morning.” Hayley replies politely, Josh grandmother wasn’t very fond of Hayley after the incident that gave Josh a broken a month ago. Although everyone else has seemed to move on, she still has a problem with it.
“We should get going, don’t want to be late.” Josh smirks wrapping his arm around Hayley’s shoulder literally pulling her over towards the door.
“Don’t be late for dinner Joshua, there will be a surprise waiting for you.” Josh grandmother called out Josh knew his grandparent’s was planning something for his birthday, but her just couldn’t figure out what it could be. He guesses that was the disadvantage of not having his brother or little sister around, normally he’s pay one of them to find out.
“Yes ma’am. “Josh whines pulling Hayley out of the house with him, and calling a quick goodbye over his shoulder to his grandparents.
“Keys?” Josh says holding out his hand.
“No way bud; you’ve lost all privileges of driving my car.” Hayley lightly taps Josh’s nose with her finger. Josh chuckles, walking over to the passenger side.
“Let’s skip today.” Josh says enthusiastically once he and Hayley were in her car.
“I’d love to babe, but I promised my grandparent’s no more trouble, because I really want to go to Paris with the French class, and I want you to go as well.” Hayley said not knowing exactly what she had said, but Josh had definitely caught it. He smiled like a fool.
“What?” Hayley asked confused, throwing a quick glance at Josh.
“Babe, you called me babe” Josh says shocked.
For a minute Hayley was shocked, because she hadn’t even realized it. What did this mean? She didn’t know so she decided to play it cool, and see where it would lead, because she had obviously grown feeling for Josh since they began to hang out. “So.” Hayley finally responds after collecting her thought.
“Well it’s just that I didn’t know we were dating?” Josh laughs nervously.
“Are you kidding me, I let you kiss me, feel me up, and even see me half naked.” What do you think we’ve been doing for the past month Josh?” Hayley pulls the car to the side of the road.
“I didn’t know Hayles, I thought we were…. just friends?” Josh says slowly.
“So you just want to be friends.” Hayley places her hand over her face lying her head on the steering wheel.
“No, I mean, I’ve been wanting to ask you out, but I thought you’d say no.” Josh places his hand on Hayley’s back to comfort her thinking that she was crying. Hayley comes back up laughing Josh is more than confused. “What?” He asks.
“I was joking, I knew we weren’t dating, but I’m glad to know you have feeling for me.” Hayley leans over placing a kiss on Josh’s cheek. Hayley giggles as Josh places his hand behind her head, tangling his fingers in her orange hair crashing his lips into hers.
“We have to go.” Hayley smirked pulling away. Josh pouted crossing his arms over his chest like a five year old toddler not getting his way. Hayley giggles pinching his cheek before starting up the car again.
“You’re a bad girlfriend.” Josh whined playfully continuing to pout his lip.
“Maybe this will cheer you boyfriend?” Hayley pulls a white envelope from the folded up sun-visor.
“Wonder what it is?” Josh shakes the envelope.
“Just open it, it’s not Christmas.” Hayley’s gift had just given Josh an idea, for what he wanted to spend his birthday with Hayley after school, since Hayley didn’t want to ditch.
********************************
School had ended just as quickly as it had begun. Hayley and Josh spent their class periods texting each other, when they weren’t in the same class and even when they were sitting next to each other. Now that the two had made it official, they felt as if they we now unceprable.
Of course Tessa was jealous, but shocking to both Hayley and Josh’s she pretended loosing Josh didn’t bother her. During lunch Tessa had walked up to their table handing out invitations to her upcoming party to everyone, but Hayley and Josh. Neither of them cared, and neither did their friends, who told Tessa that they probably wouldn’t make it.
“Where are you to heading off to so quickly?” Taylor asks.
“It’s a surprise for Hayley.” Josh smirks snatching Hayley car keys from her hand.”
“A surprise for me, on your birthday?” Hayley questioned.
“You’ve got him whipped.” Kat says, as she and Sabrina laugh.
“Guess I do.” Hayley wrapped her arms around Josh’s waist. See you later guys.” Hayley called over her shoulder, as she and Josh walked to her car. “Key’s please.” Hayley says reaching out for her keys. Josh holds them out so she can’t reach them.
“I have to drive Hayles, if I tell you where we are going then it want be a surprise.” Josh leans down placing a kiss on the side of Hayley’s head.
“Fine.” Hayley sighs in defeat.”
Hayley smiled watching Josh drive her car as if it was his own. Without saying a word she pulls out her a quickly snaps a picture of him.”
“What are you doing?” Josh smirks Hayley only gives a smirk in return, placing her phone back into her pocket.
“Josh where the hell are we going, your barley know your way around franklin, and your taking me to Nashville?” Hayley exclaims.
Don’t worry Hayles; I’ll make sure your get back home safe and sound.” Josh reached out patting Hayley’s shoulder. Just as she had did him the first time she took him to Nashville. Hayley rolled her eyes, and sat back and enjoyed the ride.
Josh was glad that Hayley had fallen asleep during the ride, now he wouldn’t have to argue with her about closing her eyes for her surprise. Parking the Hayley’s car in the parking lot of a place he knew she’s enjoy he climbed from the car, and walked around to open Hayley’s door. Being careful in the process, because her head was lying on the window.
“Baby wake up.” Josh whispered, giving Josh a little shake. Josh smiles at the adorable look on Hayley’s face as her eyes flutters open.
“Where are we Josh?
