“Where are we Josh?” Hayley’s bright emerald green eyes flutter open, and a small yawn escapes from deep within. Josh only smirks; taking Hayley’s had into his, and gently pulls her from the car. Hayley decided not to argue, knowing that she’d be safe with Josh.
“The Mall, You brought me to Nashville’s mall?” Hayley questions glancing up at Josh. Once again Josh only smirks, giving Hayley’s small delicate hand a light squeeze. Hayley remains quite the remainder of the walk through the mall, as she continued to follow Josh lead. Then suddenly Hayley gasps stopping in her tracks, as she notice the huge banner hanging just above the ‘Best Buy’ music store welcoming fans in to meet; Jimmy Eats World. Her heart was pounding in her chest; this had to be the best day of her life. How did Josh even know she liked Jimmy Eats’ World, but that she would worry about later? Hayley had become so over joyed she had forgotten how to walk, and Its took Josh to reminder her how to.
Josh lets out a light chuckle. “Come on.” Once again Hayley follows Josh’s lead stumbling over her own feet, as she was still in shock. She couldn’t believe she was about to meet her favorite band in the entire world.
Josh reaches out to open the door, and it’s locked. He’s confused, there are people inside, and so was the band so why were the doors locked. Hayley glances up at Josh just as confused. Their stare is interrupted by one of the best buy employees opening the door.
“Do you have passes?” The guy asks.
“No, but I thought….” Josh manages to say before he’s rudely cut off.
“This is private show, no ticket no entry.” The employee rolls his eye.
“Come on dude, this is my girlfriend’s favorite band, I’m sure you could let us slide in.” Josh smirks pulling a one hundred dollar bill from his wallet.
“Yeah, and it’s his grandmothers favorite band.” The guy nodded towards a young guy and an older woman standing off to the side. “Sorry dude I’m not going to lose my job for your girlfriend.” The employee says before closing the door in both Josh and Hayley’s face.
“Well that’s that; at least we tried.” Hayley sighs in defeat.”
“That’s that, at least we tried? Are you serious Hayles?” Josh asked shocked. “And here I thought you were the rebel one in our relationship.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Hayley challenged.
“I just can’t believe you’re going to give up so easily. I never thought you were that type of girl.”
“I’m not, I just really wasn’t to go on that Paris trip Josh, and my grandparent’s promised that I could go, as long as I stayed out of trouble.” Hayley explained.
“But what does that have to do with anything were not going to do anything wrong.” Josh reassured.
“Then how are we going to meet them, you heard that guy no ticket no entry.” Hayley quoted.
“Just follow me.” Josh wiggles his eyebrows smirking evilly. Hayley eyes widen as Josh grabs hold of her hand and pulls her off towards the exit. Josh had no Idea of how he would convince the bands security to let them meet the band, but he was determined and on a mission.
An Idea popped into Josh head, as he spotted a guy scalping Jimmy Eats’ World tickets for today’s show outside the mall. Josh knew the tickets were fake, and that he and Hayley couldn’t go back into the mall with them, but maybe, just maybe he could fool the band…
Josh slips the ticket scalper a hundred and twenty dollars, and the man handed over the tickets with a smile; probably thinking he had just got one over on them. “Josh you know those are fake right, we can’t go back in there with those.” Hayley says she and Josh walk away from the guys.
“I know that Hayles, I have a plan. Just go with me ok.”
“What’s the plan?”
“Well we bought tickets months ago, we got here late, and because he had to go to school, when we finally arrived a rude employee wouldn’t let us in because the show had already stared.” Josh raised his eyebrows hopping that Hayley would go along with the plan.
“Wow!” Hayley says shocked.
“”What.” Josh questions.
“You are so damn evil. You’re going to make my lie to my favorite band.” Hayley says in disbelief.
“You said it yourself they’re your favorite band, and I’m sure you’d like to meet them just as much as I do. It’s a once in a life time thing Hayles.” Hayley only nods, allowing Josh to take her hand again and lead her towards the back of the mall, where the bands tour bus was parked….
*********************************************
That was so fucking amazing.” Hayley squealed loudly not caring that she was causing attention to herself. She couldn’t believe she had just met the guys from her favorite band, and it was all because of Josh. Hayley smiles from ear to ear wrapping her arm around his waist as they walked back to her car.
“Glad to know you had a great time.” Josh smiles opening Hayley’s door for her.
“You’re the best boyfriend ever. Thank you Thank you Thank you, for the most amazing day ever.” Hayley places a kiss on Josh’s cheek every time she thanks him, and then places one final kiss on his lips that lasted long enough to get the attention of a few bystanders.
“Anything for you beautiful.” Josh leans down placing a kiss on Hayley’s forehead before closing her door, and strolling over to the driver’s seat. Hayley blushed like mad, wondering what had she done to deserve such an amazing guy like Josh.
Hayley would admit that when she first met Josh she thought he was nothing more than an argent jerk, who did what he wanted to get what he wanted. She felt bad for judging him without really knowing him.
“Is everything ok?” Josh asked noticing a change in Hayley’s mood all of a sudden.
She truthfully smiles. “Everything’s perfect.” After stopping Ice cream and checking out a local record shop around the way Hayley and Josh both decided it was time to head home after receiving a call from Josh’s grandmother.
Josh was excited to know what his grandparents had planned for him, but he wasn’t ready to leave Hayley’s, so once he had parked Hayley’s car in his driveway he asked if she wanted to join him and his grandparent’s for dinner. Of course she accepted, but knew she had to ask her grandparent’s first.
Entering their own homes neither of them expected what was awaiting them. Not knowing that what stood before them would play such and intense role in their new found relationship.
“Grandma, I’m home.” Hayley called walking through the front door.
“Can you come to the kitchen please?” Her grandmother says. Something was different, and Hayley instantly recognize that something was wrong. First her grandmother didn’t responded joyfully as she always did. There was inviting smell of her grandmother’s delicious food elimination the house.
Hayley entered the kitchen to find her grandparent’s tears in their eyes sitting at the Island, with a few pieces of paper strewed over the counter top.
“What’s wrong?” Hayley asked feeling a slight tug of pain in her heart, and tears began to weld up in her eyes. The last time she seen her grandparent’s cry was when her father died, so something had to be wrong. But what could it be, who could be hurt; she had no one else…
“Please take a seat sweetheart.” Hayley grandfather manage to say wiping away his tears.
“Please tell me.” Hayley pleads.
“It’s your mother.” Hayley tense up at the words that left her grandfather’s mouth. She hadn’t seen her mother in years, but that didn’t make her love her mother any less. Yes she was upset for a while that her mother had left her, but she knew what it was like to be heart broken, and knew that people don’t exactly make the best decision during those times. Her grandparents had taken very good care of her for the past years, so she never though her mother was a bad mother, she just prayed that her mother would come home one day. “She died.” Her grandfather finished.
“Hayley sits in silent; she doesn’t know what to feel at first. As soon as it registers that she would never get to see her mother ever again, she began to feel sick to her stomach. Why was everything bad always happening to her, first her father now her mother? Hayley quickly stands to her feet, and runs from the kitchen. She first thinks of going to her room, but realizes she doesn’t wasn’t to be alone not knowing what she’s do to herself….
*******************************************
Josh smiles as he watch Hayley skip to her front door. He couldn’t believe that he had fallen in love with someone so fast. She’s amazing, smart, and beautiful; why can’t every girl be like her he thought he thought to himself, as he walked across the street to his own house. Josh automatically recognizes that something is different. His grandfather never left his prize possessions 1930 Cadillac whom he named Lucy outside of the garage, so what made now different?”
“Josh doesn’t bother to knock on the door, or ring the doorbell; he simply pulls his keys from his pocket. The lights are out, but Josh’s know that someone if there, because of the giggling he heard when he first opened the front door.
“Grandma, Grandpa, I’m home.” Josh calls out, and right on cue the lights are switched on.
“SUREPRISE.” Josh is surrounded by his grandparents, his family who he didn’t expect to see, and someone he really didn’t expect to see. His ex-girlfriend: Jenna Rice. He hadn’t seen her since he left home, and they had broken up almost a year ago.
Josh was greeted by his family, each of them getting in a hug, and a pat on the back. Josh had kelp his distance from Jenna knowing exactly how she was. She was like the female version of him before he met Hayley. Jenna went after what she wanted, and always got it. Josh knew that Jenna hadn’t come here just to celebrate his birthday, he that there was something behind this little visit, so it was best for him to stay away from her.
Dinner is going great, but there was something that was bugging Josh, not that his ex-girlfriend was sitting next to him constantly placing her hand on his thigh, it was that his current’s girlfriend hadn’t shown up. Hayley had seemed so excited to spend more time with him, so what hadn’t she come back? Had her grandparent told he no.
“Excuse me I have to use the restroom.” Jenna suddenly says during the middle of desert.
“Dear you’ll have to use the upstairs bathroom.” The Downstairs is being renovated. Joshua why don’t you show Jenna to the restroom.” His grandmother smiles. Josh catches a sly smirk on Jenna’s face, before he nods, standing from his seat and escorting Jenna upstairs.
“Still nice and firm I see.” Jenna pinches Josh’s bottom as he climbs the stairs.
“Jenna.’ Josh whisper- yells slapping her hands away. She giggles.
“The bathroom.” Josh pointed at the first door on the left.
“Oooooo is that your room, we could maybe get ten minutes in, if I say I’m not feeling well.” Jenna smirks and began to caress Josh’s arm, before he steps away.
“Can you please go and use the restroom, so we can go back down stairs.” Josh says quite annoyed.
“I don’t have to use the restroom; I just wanted a little Joshie time, like the old times.” Jenna walks past Josh and goes into his room without permission. Jenna glances around spotting exactly what she had been looking for. “Is this your new girlfriend?” She ran her finger over the pictures Hayley and Josh had taken in the photo booth, the day they decided to skip school.
“Yeah she is.” Josh says proudly
“Hmmmm different, I always thought you liked blondes.” Jenna runs her fingers though her bleached blonde hair.
“Can we go now?” Josh snapped not wanted to play anymore of Jenna’s games.
Hayley ran frantically across the street to the Farro’s house. She didn’t want to ruin Josh’s birthday, but she didn’t know who else to run to. She jabbed the doorbell possibly ten times, feeling that whoever was to answer the door wasn’t moving fast enough.
“May I help… Oh you’re the girl from the video, your that girl my brother’s been blabbering about. Hey what’s wrong?” Josh’s younger brother Zac who Hayley didn’t really know other than a few things that Josh had told her said.
“Where’s Josh?” Hayley asks avoiding the guy’s questions and comments.
“Dining room.” He simply answer’s. Hayley quickly pushes past him. She enters the dining room still frantically, with tears spilling from her eyes like water falls.
“Dear, what’s wrong?” Mr.Farro Josh’s grandfather asks.
“Where is he? Where’s Josh.” Hayley pleads for an answer.
“Who is this? The other woman, who is Josh mother ask.
“Are across the street neighbor’s granddaughter.” Mr.Farro says.
“He’s upstairs, dear.” Josh grandfather finally gets another word in. Hayley quickly sprints up the stairs.
“Joshhhhhhhhhh.” Hayley pauses at the sight before her.
“Hayley.” Josh gasps. Hayley quickly turns on her heels to leave. Josh quickly pushes Jenna off of him, and went after Hayley, who makes it just to the front door, before he catches her arm. Josh’s family rushes into the living room to find out what’s going on. They are all shocked to see Josh with button down dress shirt ripped open, Jenna fixing her dress and Hayley more upset then she was the first time.
“Joshua what’s going on?” both his mother and grandmother asked.”
Josh ignores them as he tried to calm Hayley. “Hayley await, baby please just listen.” Josh pleads Hayley as she tries to free herself.
“Let me go Josh.” Hayley cries.
“No not until you listen to me please.” Josh pleads wrapping both his arms around Hayley from behind, and holding her tightly against his chest. Josh walks Hayley outside so his family wouldn’t hear them. Baby you know I love you, and I would never do anything to hurt you. You have to believe me when I say that she came on to me.” Josh says softly in Hayley’s ear as he still held her in his arms.
“Please let me go Josh, please.”
