So here’s Chapter 1 as I promised, and I am so glad to hear that you all are interested, hopefully I can keep the updates coming smoothly. Hope you Like ;)
I guess I should start by telling you a little about myself before I get into the details of how I found myself in such shameful, but unforeseen situation.
Joshua Neil Farro is the name my parents gave to me at birth, but everyone I know calls me Josh for short. I have three bother and a little sister. My life was pretty easy growing up. In high school I was that popular guy that all the girls loved and all the guys wanted to be, and because of that I thought I would grow up to be somebody. High school ended six years ago; and here I am at twenty-three still living in my small home town of franklin TN, running a little whole in the wall record shop.
I love Franklin in all but my dreams in high school were much bigger than owning a little record shop. I had always pictured myself selling out arenas all over the world, as my top selling band toured. Nevertheless it not what I got!
A few months after high school my band ‘Novel American’ Split up, seeing how the only gigs we could get was children’s birthday parties. We were going anywhere as a band and it was time to call it quits, because in the real world you need money to survive and we weren’t earning any.
At this point in my life I’m still waiting for something of someone to bring some enjoyment into my life. I don’t want to believe that this is all my life I worth. There has to be something more…
"So were telling us were taking in more strays again" My self-centered younger brother Zac questioned my mother as he my family and I all sat in another one of mother family meeting. I moved out a year ago to live with my on and off again girlfriend, but my mother still insist that I come to these ridiculous meeting solely because I’m still apart of the family.
"They are not a stray’s Zachary, and I don’t want to hear you that again, Ella and I were the best of friends in college." My mother half-heartedly glared at him, seeing how she was one who could never be angry with anyone, unless they really pushed her buttons.
"So what happen to her, because this is the first time I’ve ever heard of her " My eldest brother Nate asked looking up from his I-phone for a brief second as if he was really interested in getting an answer to the question he asked. .
"Actually you, Josh, and Zac have met her before when you were younger. A couple of years after college she was offered a great job out in California, we kept in touch for a while, and then it was like she had vanished.” My mother shrugged.
"Ok so we know that you’re taking them in, but why does it involve any of us, it’s not like we really know them or give a crap about them?" Nate asked mumbling the last bit. Sometimes I swore I was the mature in the family other than my mother of course.
"Well Ella is having some fanatical issues since divorcing her husband and I offered to help a friend in need by letting her and her children, stay in our pool house until they can get back on their feet. And I really need you boys to help move the heavy boxes then Ella and her girls arrive.” My mother smiled gratefully.
"The Pool house, but that's where we have band practice." Zac protested loudly. Of course that was the only part he had caught, as he was thinking of himself again. Sure I would miss our cool band refusal place but it was for a good cause.
"I'm sure you can find another place perhaps the garage." Mom suggested.
"Mom the garage is hot as hell, can't they just stay in a hotel or something." Zac continued to protest.
"They're having financial difficulties Zachary, they can't afford to stay in a hotel and, its final that they're stay in our pool house. Mom said firmly.
After the hour long family meeting was abjured, I decided to have a few words with my mother. My mother was a kind woman that would help anyone in need, though for some reason I felt that this was something more than just helping an old friend. Maybe with a friend around my mother would be able to heal with all the hurt my father left her with.
“What is it dear?” My mother questions not turning to face me as she continues to load the dishwasher as I stood in the door frame of the kitchen with my hands nervously shoved into my pocket. I chuckled to myself some time it was like my mother really did have eyes in the back of her head.
“N…Nothing I… was just wondering if you had spoken to dad lately?” I take a few forward, stopping at the kitchen island and placing my hands on the flat granted surface.
She pauses for a short second before continuing with the dishes as she spoke. “He call’s often, but I have nothing to say to him.” She sighs.
“Oh?” I struggled with what to say next. I didn’t want to upset my mother with so much talk about my father, but just wanted to make sure that she was alright.
“Honey is there something bothering you?” My mother put down the last plate, before turned to face me from the opposite side of the Island.
“No, I just think, it’s a good idea that your helping your friend out, and maybe whiles she’s hear you can relax a little hand have girls night out, hit the spa, you know take some time out for yourself to have some fun. I could watch Jon and Izzy whenever?”
“Josh, sweetie don’t worry yourself, I am perfectly happy now, and if this is about your father well… we’ve come to an understanding. He’s happy with Kate, and I’m happy with being a mother to my children. No one is more important to me than you and you siblings to me” She smiled weakly.
Nodding understandingly I place a kiss on my mother’s cheek, before heading back into the living room to wait from my mother’s friend to arrive.
(Two Hours later)
Two hours had passed, and I was now outside tossing the old football with my little brother Jon and the neighbor’s kid when a moving truck stopped in front of the house. A short haired blonde woman climbed from the truck, who I assume was Ella, then followed her was a little girl around my little sister Izzy's age.
Before anyone could say anything my mother practically ran from the house screaming her head off in excitement. "Ella” she screeched loudly as she moved closely in the direction of the blonde woman.
"Meredith", Ella squealed Just as loudly.
"Oh my god it's been so long.” My mother sang as they continued to hug each other.
“Awwwe this must be little Erica my mother cooed at the little girl who stood by her mother's side.” Where’s Hayley, gosh I haven’t seen her since she was two years old." My mother says excitedly as she skimmed around for this mysterious girl.
Ella chuckles “Oh she’s still in the truck; she's being your average moody teenage girl.” Ella says. I glanced at the tuck, but didn’t see anyone maybe she was slouching down or something.
"Hey Josh, you and Jon come meet Ella and Erica, My mother smiles giddily. Jon and I glanced at each other before walking closer in the direction of my mother and her friend.
"Hi, I'm Josh." I smiled, and extended my hand for a hand shake, but received a hug instead
“No way is this Joshie the little gorgeous prince charming I use to know.” Ella smiled pinching my cheek like a mother would. “I bet you have to beat the girls off sticks.” She added. Blushing like mad I thank her for the complement as Zac comes from the house holding our cry little sister in his arms.
“Zachary what happen?” My mother asked taking Izzy from his arms.
“I didn’t do anything, she fell.” Zac shrug with no emotion what so ever.
Ignoring Zac’s emotionless plea of innocent’s my mother introduces Izzy and Zac
"I thought there was another girl to." Zac suddenly says as my mother and Ella had already began another conversation on catching up.
"You mean Hayley?” Zac shrugs “She's in the truck being moody.”
“Oh!” Zac says glancing anxiously at the moving truck as did I. I knew how my brother was and I knew how this could possibly turn out. Either he’d like her and use this girl until he was done with her, or he wouldn’t like and would make her life a living hell, either way I knew he was up to no good. Zac had always been that way, mom was afraid that he’d turn out like out father Just as Nate had. Not giving a damn about anyone but themselves.
"So shall we start the moving process while I still have three of my boys here?" My mother asked
"Oh Mer, they don’t have to, the girls and I can handle it." And with that Zac was off, calling over his shoulder to mom that he was going over to a friend’s house.
"Oh no I insist, the boys and I don't mind at all, and beside you all have had a long drive and my boys helping will only quicken the process." Mom said.
Ella pulled the large moving truck around back where we began to unload boxes from the back of the truck. Halfway done unloading the truck I still hadn't seen this Hayley girl.
“Uhmmm…Mrs. Williams do you want me to unload these boxes as well.” I ask pointing at the boxes that read: H.Bomb
“Please call my Ella, and no you can leave those there.” Ella smiled. “If Hayley wants to be rude and not even say hi or thank you then she can unload her own things.” Ella says loud enough for her daughter to here.
"Hayley you’ve got to get out of the truck, were not going to unload your things while you sit around being stubborn.” Ella said walking around and opening the passenger door......
So that’s it for now. Thanks-4-Reading
