So New, a chapter, I’m glad to hear that you all like the last chapter. Possibly tomorrow I’ll post the prologue to the other story. (Finger’s crossed) IDK, because I’ll be babysitting my two month old niece. Any way’s enjoy ;)
After fifteen years of marriage my parents decided to get a divorce; which left my mother, myself and little sister pretty much homeless and my dad not giving a damn about us now that he has a new family in all.
In the past two years my father hadn’t called or tried to communication me or my sister at all, not even on our birthdays or other holidays. His not contributing financially put a strain my mother. She did all she could as a single mother to provide for me and my sister, but she couldn’t do everything. We were in and out of hotels, staying on family member’s couches. And for the Past four months we’d living out of my mother’s minivan, until she had to sell it for cash.
I was seventeen now almost eighteen and had to start all over again, in a new state, new school, new everything. But it's not like I had friends or people who really cared for me in all those other places we’ve lived. Some things never change, and they weren’t about to start now.
We had driven for days before we stopped in front of this huge white house, I could have sworn it was almost three stories tall. And I knew I wouldn’t fit in here we were like a bunch of strays, being taken in by moms old friend.
“Let's go meet them I'm sure Meredith is excited to see you again. The last time she saw you, were only two years old.” I watched as my Mom and Erica got out of the moving truck and I just stubbornly sat there. Normally I didn’t care about what people thought about me but I actually felt ashamed right no. It felt like we were a new charity case for some rich family to help out.
I peeked over the dashboard of the truck, for the first time I notice three guys in the front yard. One maybe ten, the other twelve and the oldest maybe in his early twenties. Soon they were joined by a woman my mother’s age. Then another boy who looked my age if not younger and little girl my sister’s age.
Continuing to peak over the dashboard I watched the strange people I would soon be living with. They all seem nice, except for the guy my age. His vibe came off like his just didn’t care about anything. Soon mom returned to the truck.
"Where Erica I asked as my mother started up the truck.
"She is playing with Izzy Meredith’s daughter and her new friend while we unload our belonging. If you were out there you would have known that.” My mother frowned at me. “Honey I know you don’t want to be here, but it’s all we have for now. And you should be thankful to the Farro for taking us in.
Rolling my eyes I stayed slouched down in my seat as mom began to back the truck up to pull around back.
“We’re staying in their pool house. I guess we aren’t good enough to live in their actual house.” I muttered quietly. Mom sighs as she was frustrated with my bad attitude. Once around the house mom shot the truck off and climbed out leaving me and my stubbornness alone once more.
A half an hour goes back and our things are being removed. I glanced at the side mirror on the truck I could see him, the unknown guy helping my mother. Exiting the pool house for the millionth time and reentering the back of the truck to retrieve another box I hear him ask my mother a question; a question about my thing. Did I really wasn’t a stranger going through my personal belonging. I continued to listen then suddenly my door opened. It was my mother.
“Honey you need to get out of this truck this instant. We're not going to unload and unpack your belongings.” My mother says in a serious yet playful tone as is she was about to do something that she knew would embarrasses me.
"I don't care" I muttered. My mom grasped my arm, and carefully pulling me out of the truck and over her shoulder.
“We’ve got to put some meat on your bones honey, your such a feather.” My mother joked as she began to spin me around still over her shoulder.
"Stop mom, put me down.” I shouted and began to kick my legs like an upset child throwing a tantrum because she couldn’t have what she wanted." Why do parents have to be so embarrassing, especially when there’s a hot guy around? ‘Wait did I just call him HOT? I don’t even know him.’
"Hayley you stop acting like a child." My mother laughed slapping me on the bottom. At this point I was beyond embarrassed, because O knew he was watching.
"Fine, put me down than.” I snapped. Once my mom places me down on my own two feet, I straighten out my shirt and notice that everyone was staring at me from my little outburst. “What?” I snapped annoyed. He smirked. ‘Was he really enjoying my pain?’ I though sarcastically, blushing deeply as his smirk turned into a friendly smile I turned away.
"Oh my goodness Hayley sweetheart, haven’t seen you since you were two. You’ve grown into such a beautiful young lady.” Meredith smiled pulling me into a tight unexpected hug.
I glanced at my mother who gave me insignificant glare for encouragement. “Thanks!” I said with a noticeable amount of fake enthusiasm in my voice as I hugged Meredith back.
“Oh you’re going to love it here honey!” Meredith says finally releasing me from her death grip of a hug. ‘Doubt that’ I thought to myself.
Taking my hand she leads me around introducing me to three of five of children First Isabella, then Jonathan, then lastly Josh. I found out that he was older than me, like I guessed, but why did he have to be six years older than me? Six Freaking years!!!! But who am I kidding, even if he was my age he still wouldn’t be interested in someone like me.
“Oh you just missed Zachary my third child. You’re a year older than him, but I’m sure you two will get along perfectly.” Josh let out a snort; what was that supposed to mean? I mentally asked myself. “My eldest son you’ll meet him soon he was busy today.” Meredith finished. Boy did this woman like to smile, and holy-cow how many freaking children dose this woman have? I thought to myself.
After being introduced to everyone, I began to unload my own thing, as everyone went inside for lunch. Mom insisted that I unload all my small items myself since I didn't help with the other boxes.
"Need a hand." A voice asked from behind me as I grabbed one of my three guitar case. I turn to see Josh standing on the ground.
I shrug and Josh gladly hopped onto the back of the truck to give me a hand. We began to unload more my things and I couldn’t help but to steal glances at him every now and then. There was something about him. A feeling that was so intense! Being around him made me feel…good!
"So how do you like it here so far?" Josh asked while lifting another box.
"I don't know I’ve only been here for like six hours, and most of that was spent trying to find your parent’s house.”
"Maybe I could show you around sometime. I can tell you’re into to music; there’s a nice little record shop in town? actually it’s my shop, but it’s nice.” He smiled as my eyes lit up. If I was in love with anything it was defiantly music. I had always wanted to start my own record collection, but could never find an actual record store. Singing, I had always enjoyed.
"Sounds great I said not trying to sound too eager."
"Wow Uhmmm…did your mom decorate this entire pool house." I asked finally opening the door to my new room. The room was bright pink, white trim out lining the room, white bedding and everything was so freaking girly.'
"Yeah" Josh chuckled. "I guess pinks not your thing huh?"
"I guess not." I muttered. Josh let out a light chuckled.
"So are you really into playing guitars, or, I mean… it’s a stupid question seeing how you have three of them, but most girls I know have them just for show" Josh stumbled over his words a little.
"It’s not a stupid question, and I do play. The Taylor-Acoustic is mine; I got it two years ago for my birthday. The other two I inherited them from my grandfather. I really haven't played since he passed away though.
"Sorry, about that." Josh says sympathetically.
"No it's ok; maybe I’ll start playing again one day, who knows.” I shrugged.
"That's great, I actually teach guitar lessons on the side, I wouldn't mind hearing you play, or giving you a few pointers."
"Sure." I smiled once again. After sharing a few more half-hearted stories we headed back out to the truck to get last few of my belonging, though before we could completely make it there we were stopped by an high pitch squeaky voice calling Josh's name.
"Joshie… Joshie..." The voice called over and over again as it got nearer, It was a girl. I hated to admit it bet she was pretty, tall, and blonde. Isn’t that what most guys go for? This had to be Josh’s girlfriend, but I assumed the worst by words that left Josh’s mouth..
"Fuck." He muttered.
So who is the mysterious blonde to Josh? I’m sure you, already know who she is and who she is to Josh. And if you hadn’t notice there is an age gap between Hayley Josh but it’s really no biggie. There will be a feud over Hayley but I won’t say who the challengers are just yet ;)
