Not much to say, but sorry for the wait, and thanks for all your support ;)
"Fuck." I muttered. Watching as my on again off again girlfriend Jenna skipped over to me and Hayley. Hayley let out a tiny giggle, shaking her head in amusement as she grabbed box labeled: cd's. I couldn’t help but to glance her way to give her a small smile, but thinking in the back of my mind that this was not going to end well. Jenna was the jealous clingy type. She was the type to get jealous of me hanging out with my own sibling’s let along another unfamiliar girl.
Jumping off the back of the truck I waited for Jenna to come closer. "Hi babe." She beams at me, but shot daggers over my shoulder in Hayley’s direction. Wrapping her arms around my neck, Jenna drew me into a passionate kissed not caring of Hayley’s present. Then placing a kiss my cheek, grasping my earlobe between her lips in the process, and gave a light tug with her teeth, all just to make a scene and claim her territory. I hear Hayley let out another laugh as I pull away.
Sighing unnoticeably I ask; "What are you doing here Jen? I thought we’d made plans to meet at the apartment after I left from here?"
"I came to see you silly, I really missed you; but enough about us.” Jenna leans into my side, I knew she was up to something and the best thing was to get her out of here as soon as possible “Aren’t you going to introduce me to your LITTLE FRIEND." Jenna emphasizes the words ‘little friend’ to make a statement that, that’s all Hayley would ever be to me is just a friend if anything.
"Uhmmm…Yeah sure.” I said nervously scratching the back of my neck. “Hey little Red can you come here for a sec?" I asked as Hayley was moving another box to the end of the trailer of the truck. As she turned around I could help but to notice a slight rose color blush upon her cheeks."What is it?" I asked a bit apprehends.
"Little Red?" she raised her brows.
"Yeah, just a nick name, but if you don't like it, I..."
"NO…it's… its cool." She blushes deeper. I could see Jenna attitude quickly change in a matter of a second, from faking nice to flat out hatred to girl she’s never met in her life.
"Hi I'm Jenna, Jenna Rice Josh's girlfriend of three years; and you are?" Jenna says though clench teeth.
"Hayley Williams" Hayley said with a polite grin.
"Well it’s nice to meet you Hayley. Interesting hair color I must say. Were you going for a ‘the little mermaid’ or Bozo the clown?" Jenna smirked devilishly. There was no doubt that I was dating a mean girl, but there was something that always drew me to her. I loved her and I really didn’t know why.
"What can I say? I guess I dare to be different, unlike you. Were you going for Barbie, or the Ice Bitch?" Hayley countered and went back to moving her belongings. Jenna huffed and turned up her nose. I wanted to laugh, because I’d never met anyone to stand up to Jenna, but I opposed, seeing how we lived together and I’d literally pay for it later.
"So Joshie I thought we could go to my parent's house today… around six-ish for dinner. You know my father really likes you and wants to see you again; it's been a long time you know.
Glancing at my watch it was already five-thirty, there’d be no way I’d be ready by six, and Hayley had a few more boxes to unload. "Ahhhh.... Jen can we reschedule, maybe tomorrow, I kind of promised my mom that I'd help Hayley move her things, and help her settle in a little." I half lied, glancing Hayley, who was struggling to lift a box. For some reason I felt the need to get to know Hayley more.
"Josh? She’s a big girl, I'm sure she can take care of herself." Jenna pouted like a five year old and crossed her arms over her chest. I signed.
"Fine Josh if you don't want to spend time with your own girlfriend just because you want to help out your mother’s new charity case then fine we’re over." I had that so many times when I refused to devote all my time to Jenna, so her little tantrum meant nothing, but Jenna needed time to cool off.
"Excuse me, what did you call me?" Hayley snapped tossing the box in her hand to the ground, jumping off the back of the truck before stepping between Jenna and I so that she stood directly in front of Jenna, which only a few inches between her back and my chest.
"No excuse you little girl, I was talking to my boyfriend, not you." Jenna barked.
"Well I was talking to you bitch?" Hayley snapped. Jenna stepped forward testing Hayley patients.
"Wow… wow… wow ok, cool it girls." I placed my hands on Hayley's shoulders pulling her back. I was actually scared that she was about to kick Jenna’s ass. I knew that Jenna couldn’t fight, but I knew nothing about Hayley, though despite her size she looked as if she could kick some ass.
"What's going on out here?" My mother asked as she and Ella rushed out of the house and into the backyard.
"This little, orphan slut thinks she can come here and ruin my relationship." Jenna spat.
"Jenna" my mother gasped. Jenna had always put on this nice girl act in front of my mother, so her tone and choice words really did shock my mom.
"Don't you dare talk about my daughter like that, or you’ll have to deal with me” Ella spat; getting into Jenna’s face. That’s when Zac, Jon, Izzy, Erica, and Zac’s best friend Taylor all emerged from the house to see what all the commotion was about.
No one said anything. Zac cleared his throat with a smirk, and nodded his head at my hands that were still resting on Hayley's shoulder; from when I was hold her back from hitting Jenna. Zac and Taylor chuckles annoyingly as I quickly dropped my hands from Hayley’s shoulders, before taking a few steps away as I realize how awkward the situation actually looked
"Children go back inside." My mother demanded. Izzy, Jon, and Erica quickly went back inside, but Zac and Taylor stayed of course.
"Jen lets go I’ll take you home." I exclaimed taking Jenna’s hand into mine, as I was about to lead her away. She threw Hayley another glare and a smirk, before I pulled her away from the scene.
"Josh why the hell were you taking up for that slut? I'm you girlfriend." Jenna spat once we reached the car.
"Jenna I wasn’t taking up for her, but you were about to get into a fight with a teenager I was looking out for you, and stopping you from making a big mistake. Her mother would have sued you, if you would have hit her.
"Whatever Josh, are you coming with me or not?"
"Jen I promised mom that I would help Hayley and Ella finish moving their things. Nate isn't here and Zac is being an ass. I'll meet you at home no later than nine and we can you know.... I hinted kissing her lips before she could protest.
"Ok, but I'm still mad at you?" She says pecking me on the lips before climbing into her car.
"Well you shouldn't be, I love you and only you.” I leaned in, kissing her though the open window.
"Bye babe." She smile
“Bye” And with that Jenna drove off, and I headed back around the pool house, to finish helping Hayley.
As I reached the truck Hayley had just gotten back to the truck as well. She wore a sheepish look on her face, almost like a smirk.
"What?" I asked. Hayley only smirked and shook her head.
"I know… I know she's a bit of out there, but she's really sweet once you get to know her?" I pleaded Jenna’s case.
“Out there is an understatement, crazy bitch is more like it.” Hayley grabbed the last box and headed inside. This girl was really something; I had clearly never met anyone like her before.
“Josh…JOSH.” My head snapped in Hayley direction as I had been daydreaming and didn’t hear her call my name the first thirty times. “The door, or are you going to stand there and daydream?”
Quickly walking over to Hayley, I held the door open like a gentleman.
“So do you need help unpacking?” I asked.
“Having a stranger go through my personal belongings, no thanks, but thanks for asking.” Hayley smiled over her shoulder, before tarring the tape of a box labeled: H-Bomb’s Clothes.
“H.Bomb?” I questioned suspiciously.
“What?” She asked nonchalantly.
“What does it mean?”
“Oh, it’s no big deal just a nickname my…” Hayley pauses as if there was something more she wanted to say, but chose not to, and began to unpack more of her clothes.
“An ex-boyfriend, or friend guessed knowingly.
“Uhmmm yeah, w… we broke up a little before my mom moves us here, but it’s nothing.” Hayley sadly turns away. “You know don’t have stay here and talk with me, you’ve already helped enough with the boxes in all; I mean I’m sure you have other things to do than hang out with some teenager?” Hayley reasoned a few minutes later.
“No.” I say quicker than intended. “I mean I promised my mom I would help, and you said it yourself, were strangers; we could get to know each other better?” I shrugged.
“Well in that case, I guess you can help me by stacking stack some cd’s and on that shelf, and hanging a few posters, to hide these hideous pink walls.” Hayley laughed.
Laughing as well I grabbed the boxes labeled Cd’s from the floor, placing it on the bed before tarring the tape off.
Despite our age different I had a feeling that Hayley and I were going to be good friends…
“Tell me again why there’s a strange family living out of your pool house?” My best friend Taylor York of ten years asked.
“They’re broke, homeless and my mother’s new charity case.” I whispered as Taylor and I watched the new girl and my brother from the half open window her bedroom.
“So what do you think about her so far?” Taylor asked.
“What’s there to think about, her family is broke, homeless and living in my pool house? Not only did she steal our band rehearsal place, but she’s not even pretty. She’s a freak, with red hair, and a flat chest and don’t get me started on her gapped tooth.” I ranted quietly.
“Well it seems like Josh has a thing for her.” Taylor nod as Josh laughs at something weirdo said.
“No way, he’s just being nice because he doesn’t want to piss mom off. Josh would never go for a freak like that.”
“I know but it seems like he’s into her, I mean she’s not that bad looking Zac.” Taylor reasoned.
“Are you like into her or something?” I turned up my nose in disgust. How could my best friend like someone like her?
“No, I’m just saying she’s not that bad looking.”
“Whatever you say T”
“Dude I’m not into her because first off I don’t know her, and secondly I overheard Amber, and Alisa and some more girls at lunch the other day. I think Amber is finally going to ask me out. If Amber and I start dating then I’ll put in a good word for you to Alisa.” Taylor explained.
“Amber and Alisa Rose were not only twins, but they were the most popular and hottest girls at our school. Taylor and I had been crushing on them since the jr high, but they’ve never seem to notice until now that we were in high school.
“What the hell are you two doing?” Josh’s roared from inside the pool house. Taylor and I had so been busted.
“Run” Taylor shouts, and takes off as fast as he could.
“No way this is my pool house.” I respond and casual walk to the front of the pool house to see an angry Josh holding Taylor tightly by his arm and freak who looked disgusted and annoyed.
“What the hell were you two doing by the window?” Josh asked irritated.
“None of your damb business.” I snapped.
“Never in a million years did I ever think I’d ever have a peeping-tom let along two.” The freak said sarcastically.
“Trust me there’s nothing to peep on.” Taylor and I laugh.
“Zac stop being a jerk for like a minute, she’s done nothing to you.” Josh defends.
“Yeah she stole our rehearsal spot.” I countered
“Enough with the band crap already, you guys suck, you don’t even have a singer, or a bassist; you guys are just wasting your time.” Josh exclaims probably just showing off for the new freak.
“Just because your band failed doesn’t mean mine will, we’re better than your band ever was, and Taylor’s a hell of a lot better at guitar than you would ever be.” I knew I had hit Josh’s weak spot. Josh was determined to be a rock star after high school, but it never happened, so every time he pissed me off I would surely bring it up, and didn’t give a damn if it hurt him or not.
“Seriously Zac just stop being an ass, she’s done nothing to you.” Josh says, before turning to the freak. “Catch you later little red.” And just like my coward of a brother left without another word.
“What the hell are you looking at freak?” I snapped. Shaking her head she walks away…
