So I’m kind of updating a little late than I intended today, were all in different parts of the world, so I hope it’s not too late or early for you all, anyways thanks for all your support Hope you enjoy ;)
Today is the day, the day I had been dreading since arriving in Franklin Tennessee. Today is the first day of school, for me. I was starting a new school as a senior in the middle of the year. That’s a dead giveaway that things would go horribly wrong from the get go, and I was sure that with Zac there thing would be ten times as bad. Not only would he tell everyone that my family was poor, but he would tell everyone that we lived in his pool house, and probably spread more horrible rumors about me.
“Hayley honey, let’s go or you won’t have eat breakfast.” My mother says from outside of my bed door.
“I’m not hungry.” I called back, feeling my empty stomach do flips. I was too nervous to eat, if my stomach was empty there’d be a less likely chance of me choking and barfing on everyone if any of my teachers asked me to introduce myself in front of the class. I had never been good at public speaking, whether it’s five people of five hundred people
“Honey you have to eat or you’ll be starving all day.” My mother says; I knew she wouldn’t go away until I agree with her.
“Sure mom, I’ll grab a muffin of something before I leave.” I reasoned, before walking over to stand in front the vanity mirror to apply a little make up, as I decided to make myself somewhat decent for my new peers, not that I actually cared about their opinion of my appearance.
With one last look in the mirror I was out the door. “Honey you forgot about breakfast and your sister!” My mother called out as I was halfway out of the backyard.
Holding a blue berry muffin in hand and my little sister’s hand in the other, my mother quickly made her way to me. “Here you go sweetie have a nice day, and try to make some new friends.” My mother smiled, placing a few stay pieces of my red hair behind my ear.
“I’ll try.” I mumbled, taking my little sisters hand and headed to the end of the driveway to wait for the bus.
Ten minutes go by and not a bus in sight. Either we had already missed the bus or… My thoughts were broken by an annoying voice I wished I could have avoided for the day. “Hope you not waiting for the bus.” Zac smirks exiting his house, then walked in the direction of his all black new model Mercedes Benz’s.
“As a matter of a fact we are, but why should it concern you?” I snapped.
“Oh it doesn’t concern me at all, but you’ll be waiting there till hell freezes over before you catch a bus in this neighborhood.” Zac smirks once more before climbing into his car, and starting it up.
Signing deeply I take Erica’s hand and lead her back to the pool house. “Hayley why aren’t you to on the bus headed to school already; oh dear has the bus already run?” My mother continued without giving me a chance to speak.
“There are no buses in this neighborhood.” I simply say.
“How do you know that?” May mother asked.
“Zac told us, before braggingly climbing into his car.” I explain, before thinking about what I was saying. Mentally slapping myself I wish I could have taken my last statement back, though before I could say anything else my mother did exactly what I expected her to do. Erica willing followed my mother over to Zac’s car, as I sluggishly followed, knowing that I wouldn’t have any other chose.
Finally making it around front once more, I found Zac auguring with mine and his mother that he didn’t have enough room for Erica and I. It was lie, there was plenty of room. “Fine, but you not eating that in my new car!” Zac finally gave in after his mother threatens to take his keys and drive everyone in her minivan.
“Yes she can now get to school.” Mrs.Farro glares at Zac before smiling at me and my mother.
“No she’s not; I’ll already have to clean out her cooties once she’s out of my car, I’m not cleaning out her muffin crumbs as well.” Zac whines, trying to find an excuse to keep him from being seen with me.
“Cooties, seriously how old are you?” I said trying to keep myself from laughing, but there was no use Zac was just an immature jerk.
“Hayley, my mother warned.
“Freak!” Zac muttered, and climbed back into his car.
Reaching for the door handle Zac quickly hit the lock button to lock all the doors. “Get rid of the muffin or I’ll leave without you.” Zac says annoyingly though the half open window.
“Happy?” I questioned tossing my uneaten muffin on the ground.
“Not at all, I still have to be seen with you freak, although I could always drop you off a block away from school.” Zac smirked.
Rolling my eye’s put on my seat belt and stared out the window, as I anticipated the ride to school. I was ready to be as far away from Zac as I could be, and it wasn’t happening fast enough.
Halfway to school, Zac stopped in front of a house just as large as his. “Get in the back.” He says harshly as the Taylor guy from yesterday exits the house.
“What?” I asked stunned.
“You heard me get in the back, Taylor’s riding with us.” Zac snapped as Taylor came closer.
“There isn’t any room in the back.” I said though clenched teeth.
“Either you get in the back and hold you sister or you can walk.” Zac threaten.
“I’m not getting in the back, there’s no room.” I snapped once more.
“Get out of my car.” Zac snapped back.
“Zac dude its ok, I can have Justin give me a ride.” Taylor says; and with that Zac puts the car in park and gets out, then angry storms around to the passenger side, were he nearly jerks the door from the body of the car.
“Get out of my fucking car.” He roughly grabs my arm and practically drags me from the passenger seat.
“Hayley…. Stop it, leave my sister alone.” Erica screeches deafeningly.”
I sat on the damp ground in disbelief, as Zac made his way back to the driver’s seat and reentered that car as if nothing had happened. Standing up I dust off my slightly damp jeans, there was no way I could go to school like this.” Get in the back or I’ll fucking leave you.” Zac shouts bitterly.
Opening the backdoor I help Erica out of her seatbelt, before taking her out of the car. “Fuck you asshole.” I shout and without looking back Zac sped off, leaving me and my little sister behind.
“I’m sorry…” She cried as if she had done something wrong.
“No sweetie it’s ok, you didn’t do anything wrong.” I assured her as I kneeled down to her level. Wiping away Erica’s tears, I suggest; “How about a piggyback ride on the first day of school.” Nodding furiously with excitement I remove my backpack from my back and allowed Erica to climb onto my back. There was no way I was going to let my little sister walk an unknown amount of miles to school because of me. I just hopped that school wasn’t too far away.
After fifteen minutes of walking, I had grown extremely tired and felt as if I couldn’t go any farther, and my empty rumbling stomach wasn’t helping at all. Erica and I were both abruptly startled by the sound of a car horn. At first I was confused at whom the person could be, seeing how I didn’t really know anyone in Franklin except for the Farro’s, and then I recognized the car. It was Josh.
“Uhmmm… Why are you two walking? “Josh asks though his open window.
“Because you’re asshole of a brother kicked us out of the car.” I spat bitterly at Josh, forgetting that he wasn’t the one who had done this.
“I should have known, it had something to do with Zac” Josh sign. “Where are you guys headed?” he questioned concern.
“Too School.” I sign glancing ahead. There was little traffic out this early, so standing in the middle of the road talking with Josh hadn’t occurred that it might be a little dangerous.
“Hayles, you’re about three miles from Erica’s elementary school and five from yours…” Josh says sadly.
“Well then, I guess we better get going, or will never make it.” Giving Josh one Last glance began to walk on.
“Hayley wait, what are out thinking, get in the car I’m not going to let you to walk.” Josh gets out of the car, and quickly makes his way to stand in from of me and Erica.
“No, it’s ok, we can walk; I’m sure you have to get to work or something.” I say trying to walk around Josh.
“Sure I do, but that can wait, I’m not cold hearted like my brother Hayley, I’m not going to let you and your sister walk. Anything could happen between here and there, and it would be my fault; so stop being stubborn and get in the car.” Josh placed his hands on each side of my shoulders, and physically turned me in the direction of his car. “By the way if you don’t mind me asking, what happened to your… pants?”
“Zac pulled me out of the front seat of his car and left me on the damp ground.” I say emotionlessly. There was no point of crying over spilled milk, what had happened, had happened.
“Are you going to school like that?” Josh raised his eyebrow.
“I don’t think I really have a chose, I can’t go back home now, or I’ll never make it to school today, though that doesn’t sound so bad after all, it’s not like I was dying to go. ”I explained whispering the last bit more to myself.
Josh signed deeply. He was thinking; thinking of a way to fix my problem.” We can take Erica to school and then head over to my apartment to try and find you something to wear?” Josh suggest… I only nod, thinking what other chose did I have, but a part of me was sort of excited that I would get to go to Josh’s apartment, but why was I excited, he has a girlfriend…
So there you have it, let me know that you think ;)
