****(Hayley) ****
I awaken bright and early at the sound of the my alarm clock sounding off next to my bed, knowing exactly what today was. Not only was it my birthday, but today was the day I’d officially meet my favorite band in the entire world. So without a second thought I hopped out of bed, and headed down stairs for my birthday breakfast, that I received every year; cinnamon French toast, with a side of grape fruit bacon, eggs, and a tall glass of apple juice. My mom was like the words best cook, I mean she owns a bakery and a restaurant; it couldn’t get any better than that.
“Honey what’s wrong?” I hear my mother’s voice ask with concern. I slowed my pace waiting for the person to respond, I had a feeling I knew who she was speaking with, and why.
“Maggie I don’t like the idea of my teenage daughter, being alone with this band. I mean what do we even know about them, they’re in a rock n roll band for god’s sake; I know there up to no good.”
“Chris she’s eighteen today; it’s only a concert, and besides we’ve already told her she could go if we take that back Hayley well be crushed, and I don’t want to be the one to ruin our daughter’s birthday.”
“I don’t won’t to ruin Hayley’s big day either, but I just don’t feel comfortable letting her go by herself.” My father counters.
“Chris we’ve raised all of our children, the best we could, Hayley’s a smart young lady, she’s not a baby anymore she’s eighteen, and if she chooses to go to that concert there’s nothing we can to but trust her.”
“I trust Hayley; it’s them that I’m concerned about.
“She’ll be ok honey.” Were my mother’s final words on the topic? So I decided to make my presents noticeable.
“Good morning Family.” I squealed cheerfully, dismissing what had just over heard.
“Happy birthday honey.” My mother smiled placing the spatula down on the counter top, before pulling me into a hug.
“Good morning sweet heart and Happy birthday.” My father says from behind his morning newspaper. Soon breakfast had begun my two little sisters and my grandparent who were still here from Christmas two days ago joined as well.
After breakfast I quickly jetted upstairs to find the perfect outfit; I wanted to look nice, but I still wanted to be myself. I pulled on a pair on a pair of black ripped tights, my plain black mini skirt, my navy blue long sleeve sweater and my black and white scarf. After getting dress, straitening my faded orangey-red, and applying a little make it was finally time.
“Are you sure you don’t won’t to take the cupcake I made for the band?”
“Mom...” I whined.
“It’ll be a nice jester.” Mom smiled placing the box of home make cupcakes in my hand.”
“Fine!” I muttered.
“Have a great time sweetie.” She called out as I headed for the front door.
“Hayley?” My father’s voice stops me before I could reach the door.
“Yes?”
“You do have curfew.”
“What time?” I asked, deciding not to arguer, because I wanted to enjoy my birthday.
“Ten, I’m sure your grandparents would like to see you once more before they’re back off to Florida.”
“OK dad.” I respond, snagging my keys off the table next to the door. I place the cupcakes in the passenger seat and my cellphone next to it. I notice my father standing in the window watching me as I start engine. I knew he was only being protective, but I wanted to have some fun once in my life.
An hour later I arrived at the front gates of where the show was being held in Nashville. I rolled down the window as I notice the security guard approaching my car.
“Can I help you?” He asked.
“I’m Hayley…Hayley Williams the IHeartRadio contest winner.” I say quite nervously as I was still in shock that this was really happening.
“I’m gonna need to see some I.D”
“Sure.” I smiled fishing my wallet from my purse and my driver’s licenses from my wallet, before handing it over to him. He says something into his radio, handing my driver’s licenses back over.
“The band should be here soon to meet you; meanwhile you can have any parking space you like.” I only nod, staring out at the almost empty parking lot that only held two other cars.
Fifteen minutes had passed and I heard not a word from anyone. I hadn’t slept much the previous night so I found myself somewhat nodding off a bit, until as loud banging sound on my window startled me; practically making me jump out of my seat.
“Oh My God!” I squealed, realizing the person that had disturbed my few minutes of sleep was no other than Jeremy Davis; Novel American’s bassist. I quickly open the door, nearly hitting him with it. I squealed loudly again pulling him into a long tight hug.
“Gosh you two are adorable, you should get married.” A voice says from behind Jeremy. I knew that voice, I pulled away from Jeremy to see Zac Farro, and Taylor York, Novel Americans drummer, and rhythm guitarist. Of course I hugged them as well. I glanced around the group of people that spilled from the van, hoping to see Josh Farro, but he wasn’t there.
“Looking for Josh huh?” Taylor asked. I shrug with a small smile.
“He’s back at the bus; he wasn’t feeling to well earlier.” Zac informs me. Once again I only nod; maybe I would get to see him later.
“So shall we get this show on the road?” Andrew their tour manager says after I had been introduced to everyone.
“Ok just let me lock my car. Oh and mom made cupcakes for you guys, she owns a bakery, Uhmmmm! I hope that ok.” I smile shyly. I swear I had never been this shy in my life, as I am now.
“Sweet set of wheels you got there.” Jeremy says once we were all in the van. My parents had bought me a red dodge challenger, as my Christmas and birthday gift. I had to admit my car was better than the Novel American tickets, because I would always have this car, but I was lucky to have both.
“Thanks my parents go it for me for Christmas and my birthday.”
“That’s right today is your birthday. Happy birthday” Taylor says, side hugging me, Jeremy did the same. I continued to chat with the guys as we drove in the direction of their tour bus. The plan so far was to go back to the bus to check on Josh, give me a quick bus tour, then rehearse for tonight’s show.
A small smile appeared on my face as the orange tour bus came into view. “You ok.” Jeremy lightly chucked as I nearly tripped getting out of the van.
“Yeah, just overly excited.” I giggled.
“Now that were on the bus, bring on the cupcakes.” Zac cheered.” I giggled handing over the box to him.
“What the hell is going on?” A voice I thought I somewhat recognized roared from the back of the bus. I told you all I was coming back, and you all just left without me. Zac you’re my fucking brother and you just left without me.”
“Josh dude calm down, we have a guess on the bus.” Jeremy stepped aside reviling me.” I smiled shyly. Josh stood shock for a minute or two.
“You’re the contest winner right.”
“Yeah, I’m Hayley, nice to meet you Mr.Farro.”
“Just Josh.” He smirks, pulling me into a tight hug; I swear I could feel his heart beating against my chest. I stiffen shocked as Josh’s hand began to slip lower and lower, reaching my lower back, before Jeremy broke us apart.
“Josh dude.” Jeremy stepped between us. To be honest though I was a little shocked at Josh’s actions, but I didn’t really care, because I was hugging Josh Farro, my dream guy.
After a short bus tour and enjoying my mother’s cupcake we were off to the guy’s band rehearsal. I sat in the empty audience, singing along to every song the guys rehearsed, my eyes barley leaving Josh as he sung and strummed away at his guitar. Josh Farro was like that guy that you’d always have a crush on, but never had to balls to ask him out, because you’d rather have hope that there’s a chance, then to flat out know that you have no chance, once he rejected you.
“So how was that?” Josh says in to the mic. At first I hadn’t realized that he was talking exactly to me, because I was simply daydreaming about him. “Earth to Hayley?” Josh chuckles grabbing my attention. “How was it?”
“That was seriously awesome.” I blushed.
“Ok guys we going to take twenty, have lunch, then you guys need to get ready for the show.” Andrew says before walking off stage.
“Come on Hayles there’s pizza backstage; if you want to eat you have to beat Zac.” Josh smiled waving me along.
“I’ll help you up, so you don’t have to walk around.” Josh extended his hand. I gladly accepted, he easily pulled me up onto the stage with no struggle at all.
During lunch, I sat between Josh and Jeremy, Zac and Taylor sat across from us. I talked more, mainly about random stuff. The guys also told me that they lived in Franklin; me being their number on fan I already knew that. The guys even went as far as give me all their numbers, saying that we should keep in touch after today was over. Though they, made me promise not to give their number to anyone else.
After lunch I sat outside the guy’s dressing room waiting for them to come out and began the show. Zac was the first to come out; once again we randomly talked, before Taylor came to join us.
“Zac, can you come here for a minute.” Jeremy said in a pissed off tone poking his head out the door. Zac excused himself, and went back into the dressing room leaving Taylor and I alone, where we continued to talk, before hearing a loud crashing sound some from the dressing room; followed by an argument breaking out.
“Excuse me.” Taylor says standing and entered the dressing room.
“What the hell is going on?” Taylor said quite loudly.
“He did it a fucking again, how the hell are we gonna perform tonight? We go on in five.” Jeremy yells just as loudly.”
“I’m fine.” Josh mutters.
“We can reschedule the show.” Zac says.
“We’ve already reschedule the show twice because of this ass Zac.”
“I told you I’m fine.” Josh snapped before the door the dressing room flew open, Josh walked passed me pissed as did Jeremy and Zac.
“Is ok?” I asked Taylor.
“”Yeah everything is fine, you can watch the show from side stage, or just wait here.” Taylor suggested. I decided to watch from side stage of course.
Right off bat I could tell that something was wrong, the guys weren’t playing like they had rehearsal, it was like they were all forcing it to make the fans happy, and Josh constantly messed up his guitar parts, and the lyrics.
As the last song ended something unexpected happened.
“Before I thank everyone for coming out to see us tonight, I would like to introduce a very good friend who came out on tour with us today. Today is her 18 birthday and I hoping that we could sing happy birthday to her.” Josh says, I admeditly knew he was speaking of me.
“Maybe if we call her name she’ll come out on stage with us.” I couldn’t believe this was happening; I was going to kill Josh.
“Hayley, Hayley, Hayley.” Josh began to chant, the crowd began to follow his lead.” Andrew who stood next to me on the side of the stage, laughed, before giving me a light shove onto the stage, because I had no intention of going out there embarrassing myself in front of thousands of people I didn’t know.
After Andrew had pushed me out there I had no choice. Josh wrapped his arm around my shoulder pulling my close to him. “Isn’t she adorable?” He adds.
“Ok on the count of three. One, two, three. Happy birthday to you…..” Josh and the audience sang. “Happy birthday Hayley.” Josh kissed my cheek, before motioning me to leave the stage once the song ended.
I blushed deeply, hiding my face in my hands as I walked off stage. I wish that my family and friends could have experienced this day with me. This was the best day of my entire eighteen years.
So I thought….
